Job Summary

The Continuous Improvement Specialist is responsible for the implementation and management of the plant's CI initiative.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establishes and builds the plant's Continuous Improvement Team
  • Manages the activities of the plant's Continuous Improvement
  • Evaluates operations throughout the plant to identify areas of waste and opportunities for improvement
  • Facilitates VSM and Kaizen activities
  • Develops, prioritizes, and implements solutions to reduce waste and improve performance
  • Documents improvements and develops standard work instructions
  • Teachers, coaches, and mentors all levels of employees in Continuous Improvement and manufacturing principles
  • Trains employees to identify and eliminate waste
  • Develops and manages programs to foster employee involvement to promote a Continuous Improvement culture
  • Attends seminars, lectures, and training classes on Continuous Improvement and shares gained knowledge with plant staff
  • Staff develops and coaches the production management team, evaluates performance, and initiates corrective action as required
  • Prepares regular and special reports as required
  • Performs other duties as required


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related discipline, or equivalent experience is required
  • Minimum three to five years of experience in a lean manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Excel/spreadsheets is required
  • Working knowledge of 5s, Kanban, standardized workflow, value stream mapping, Kaizen, and visual environment/factory
  • Preferred experience and knowledge of UFP's organization and product lines
