Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $44,200 - Midpoint: $55,300 (Salaried E6)

Department/Organization: 850701 - Voluntary Services

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; some evenings, weekends, & holidays

Job Summary: The Al's Pals Coordinator runs the day-to-day operations of the program. Partners directly with local elementary schools, community agencies, school boards, principals, teachers, and administrators on behalf of the program. Provides students with an engaging and rewarding leadership experience as they serve as one-on-one mentors or student leaders in the Al's Pals after school program for children in the Tuscaloosa Community. Oversees the management of all aspects of the after-school programming (curriculum development, recruitment and training of mentors, grant writing, reporting, risk management, etc.).

Additional Department Summary: Plays a key role in providing students with an engaging and rewarding leadership experience as they serve as one-on-one mentors or student leaders in the Al's Pals after school program for children in the Tuscaloosa Community. Oversees the management of all aspects of the after-school programming (curriculum development, recruitment and training of mentors, grant writing, reporting, risk management, etc.). Advises at least one additional service team in their day-to-day operations/development. Completes required training and promoting a safe, hospitable, and respectful workplace. Holds student staff accountable for completion of required training. Has personal accountability for financial reporting and responsibility for establishing, enforcing, and following internal processes and controls as outlined in UA policies and procedures.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ability to work some nights, weekends, spring breaks and holidays.

Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Skills and Knowledge: Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community members and partners. Leadership, human relations, public speaking, financial and budget planning, marketing and organizational skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Conflict resolution and mediation skills. Knowledge of personal computers and standard software applications. Demonstrated commitment to expanding multicultural knowledge, awareness, and skills as evidenced through demonstrating self-awareness; understanding and valuing others; demonstrating knowledge of social inequalities; interacting effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in higher education or student affairs or related field and 1-3 years of full time work experience in higher education or related field. Experience working with school systems and/or experience with a mentor/tutoring program. Experience working with college age students in an advisement capacity and planning/executing programming, training, or curriculum needs. Volunteer experience.
